I hope this message finds you well.
As more and more news of potential budget cuts come out, I feel like it is important for me to keep you up to date on how larger district issues could impact our school.
I know it can be easy to get lost in the numbers. When the district and news outlets are discussing 20-39% cuts to millions and billions of dollars, it can be difficult to siphon that down to the impact on one particular community.
To help our communities understand how the potential cuts could impact our schools, principals around the network are hosting Budgeting Meeting Town Halls. Event dates and times are below:
- Taft High School - Tue. May 24 at 7pm
- Palmer Elementary - Tue. May 24th at 7pm
- Bateman Elementary - Tue. May 24th at 6 PM
Additionally, please understand that our goal is to mobilize the northwest side of Chicago to take action. Now is the time to act and stop legislators from cutting 20-39% of CPS funding.
Lastly, if you haven't done so already, please visit cps.edu/equality and use the form to contact your local state representatives (I know many of you have done so already...thank you!) I plan on visiting Springfield next week to rally for fair school funding. I will send more information out once it becomes available in case you can join me.
As always, please feel free to contact me if you have any questions or concerns.
